Hands Up Books is an exciting venture in the world of children’s publishing. Set up in 2002 by Graham Denton, it is the one independent publisher in the UK that focuses solely on poetry for children.  With only its second publication, Giving You the ‘Willies’!, it earned a nomination for the prestigious CLPE Poetry Award in 2004. Two other publications, On My Way to School I Saw a Dinosaur by Roger Stevens and Hey, Little Bug! by James Carter, featured on the "Best Books" list of Scholastic in two separate years. Most recently, an anthology, Shouting at the Ocean, was selected as a Children’s Poetry Bookshelf choice for the Spring Term, 2010. Teachers, librarians, and the most highly respected children’s poets, both in the UK and abroad, have praised the quality of its work. Including both anthologies and single-author collections in its catalogue, Hands Up Books is the small press that says a big “Yes” to poetry for children!
